Workshop taiji sword

Based on Wudang Taijiquan, in which we find elements of Taijiquan as it is generally known, but also of baguazhuan.
The form movements consist of flowing circles that are a challenge for both body and mind. In this class also application of sword techniques will be done.
Wudang sword taiji is seen as one of the highlights of taiji history. The image of the Wudang knight is hugely drawn from the sword.
We can see comparable concentration techniques in Wudang and Samurai techniques, but application in movement is totally different: Movability and manoeuvrability are coupled to high insight in how to use the sword blade.
This is why the class deals with three components:

  1. sword form
  2. conditioning exercises
  3. applications

Apart from this we will do some specific meditation exercises to support the unity of weapon and student.

The workshop will be held on January 13th and 14th  in the Yin Yang Centre, Haarlemmermeerstraat 114-116, Amsterdam. The price is €120,--. Part of the workshop will, weather permitting, be done outside, so it is wise to bring clothing suitable for outdoor training. You don’t have to bring your own sword.

What is Wudang Fitness?

What is Wudang Breathing Yoga
Ordinary hatha yoga’s focus strongly on stretch en torsion and uses breathing mostly to allow you to relax and stretch in the used muscle groups. Wudang Breathing Yoga uses breath to investigate the whole of the internal tissues of your body, to soften them and to strengthen them. At the same time Wudang Breathing Yoga helps you to lift up your sense experiences towards a higher comfort level during the generation of higher stress levels to your body. Both the muscles and joints as well as the mind are this way optimally conditioned for stress resilience and strength development. Think about the kickbacks that will bring in your daily living!

What is Bamboo formula Qigong
This gentle and quiet form of fitness uses breathing and rhythmic movement according to an easy to learn formula, that teaches how to directly release superfluous tensions. From this process a natural suppleness and fitness will develop that can not be obtained in ordinary aerobic sports. Because the prime target is the procurement of health and vitality, it is suitable for people with lots of sports experience, but also for people recovering from weakness, disease, subjected to mood swings, stress or back and joint pains. What is Dantian Meditation
When people learn how to meditate they commonly show little result with that. The reason for this is usually wrong instruction and a general lack of flexibility between methods. Because of this meditators quickly become dissatisfied, or when they persist a little to mellow –which is often taken to be inner peace. But inner peace is serene and alert. To achieve this state and have benefit of it in daily life good concentrated practice is required that liberates the mind of obsessiveness, stressors and fullness. What is Basic Anmo Massage
This selfcare fitness training contains a variety of simple to do self care massage exercises to stimulate the bloodcirculation of the whole body. The program works at the development of external rejuvenation and refreshment, and a complete improvement of the whole Qi and Blood circulation by means of knock-, rub-, pinch- and stroke-techniques, completed with a set of simple stretch and toning exercises. Due to the completeness of the program you continue to give students a playful contribution to their general wellbeing so that they can stay healthy, fit and young well into old age.
