What is meditation?
Meditation and contemplation are two terms that are very
similar. In contemplation one ponders on a subject, object,
concept etc. And in that sense, contemplation is part of
meditation. But meditation is more than just contemplating.
Meditating is researching and shaping your mind. It contains
all the techniques and methods that use the mind or shape
it. Most schools of meditation start with emptying of the
mind of thoughts (fasting of the mind). After this one learns
concentration and visualisation exercises with an acumulating
complexity. Very often one has to start with returning to
the self, emptyness, voidness, the uncarved, and from there
one starts to build and construct particular qualities of
the mind. These qualities can be compassion, telepathy, clairvoyance,
scanning abileties, etc (ESP). In many schools ESP is not
valued as a thing of interest, because spiritual goals are
presecuted. Other schools are more pragmatic and state that
spiritual progress can be speeded up because of the responsabilities
one takes on him or herself through activating special powers.
("De" in Chinese, "Siddhis" in Sanskrit).
Why should you learn to Meditate?
The Oriental College gives the opportunity to learn to meditate by means of René Goris,
who teaches a diversity of meditation techniques from both the east and the west
according to the traditional methods he learned from his tutors. His specialisation
is in Daoist and Buddhist meditation from tantric schools. He says that he learned
to meditate firstly because it is addictive to feel good. Meditation gives you
control over your moods and feelings. It shows you how to let go of things that
bother you but shouldn't. Secondly it shows you how to be economic with lifeforce,
so that you can deel with more stress that you normally would. (Especially if
you combine this with a valid Qigong program). Thirdly, meditation shows you ways to
communicate with yourself as good as with your environment, and that makes your
communication with your environment also a lot more effective.
Internal Communication with René Goris
In special workshops we pay attention to internal communication by bringing students
in contact with what people used to call the inner spirits or gods. Nowadays
we call this conciousness entities. For the warriors and therapists among us
we have special techniques from the Daoist Lingbao school for communication with
the spirits of other people. These techniques can be valuable assets for therapists
and teachers, but also usefol for all kinds of negotiating, management etcetera.

Ling Practice with René Goris
Ling is part of Lingbao training and stands central in the development of Daoist
meditation methodology as well as in Boeddhist and Bönpo Dchogzen training.
Ling means as much as soulpower and fairy ( according to some schools of Daoism
the soul of an experienced meditator goes to fairyland after death for furthering
the practice). Lingbao means precious treasure of soulpower. In opposition to
western soultraining methodology, in Daoism the soul is seen as a wild force
that has no interest for our daily troubles. The soul as a force forms a layer
of holographic links of conciousness that is spreaded over the whole of the cosmos.
Important in exercise is therefore to awaken and cultivate the interest from
the Ling for our personal thinking and feeling of reality. This proces falls
apart in four sections: awaking, diciplining, drugging and integration. what
comes afterwards are techniques that work further on this basis b.o. ESP, preperation
of dying, immortality etc.
Practitioners feel a growing of Joy in life when they practice Ling on a daily
basis and notice that all objects and persons radiate a similar soul light from
the inside as they do. They start experiencing the interconnectedness of space-time
and consiousness in a similar way as lovers do with each other. Objects reach
a certain transparency.
Ling practice is standard in all Qigong practice of real Qigong masters because
of the Daoist credo: you are your own most important teacher; to look inside
your own body makes it possible to conciously correct ones body on a microscopic
level. Ling practice is therefore a great asset for teachers, therapists, sportspeople,
physicians, spies etc..

Yuan Qi Training with René Goris
Yuan Qi means 'original Qi'. Esothericaly Daoist and other Qigong practitioners
mean with this the original and unformed energy that just escapes from the enormeous
potential of primordial universa of creative energy that are being called the
Original Yin, or Wuji; 'unpolarised'. Yuan Qi is the first undivided yang and
posesses an enormeous potential in transforming abilities.
With Yuan Qi meditation we bring sky and earth energies together in a alchemical
transformation proces for selfhealing. YuanQi meditation strengthens concentration,
clarity, patience and mental power, next to the fact that it cleanses the channels
of qi and bloeed from unwanted polution.
